Care & Warranty Information

At Hardison Landscaping, LLC, we sincerely appreciate your trust in us for your landscaping needs. We’re committed to ensuring your satisfaction with the following warranty terms, crafted with care to support you while maintaining clarity and fairness. Please review the details below to understand the coverage and required care for your project.

  • Plant Warranty

    Coverage:

    Trees and Shrubs

We provide a 90-day limited warranty on trees and shrubs installed by Hardison Landscaping, LLC, starting from the installation date.

    Replacement:

If a tree or shrub dies within this period, we’ll replace it once at no cost, provided it was maintained per our planting care instructions.

    Care Requirements:

Newly installed plants may experience transplant shock, especially in hot summer months. To minimize stress and ensure their health, owners must provide proper care during the growing season (April to October). This includes:

    Watering:

Water deeply and consistently to keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. For most trees and shrubs, this means providing 1 inch of water per week through rainfall or supplemental irrigation, depending on weather conditions. Ensure water reaches the root zone, typically 12-18 inches deep for trees and 6-12 inches for shrubs. Watering is not a science, so monitor your plants closely and adjust as needed based on weather, soil conditions, and signs of plant stress.

    Fertilization:

To support healthy growth, apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer at the beginning of the growing season (April) and again in mid-summer (July). We suggest organic granular products such as Bio-Tone or Plant-Tone for most plants. For acid-loving plants like azaleas, hollies, camellias, or gardenias, we recommend Holly-Tone. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application rates and avoid over-fertilizing, which can harm plants.

    Mulching:

Maintain a 2–3-inch layer of organic mulch (e.g., wood chips or bark) around the base of plants to retain moisture, regulate soil temperature, and reduce weed competition. Keep mulch 1-2 inches away from the plant stem to prevent rot.

Monitoring: Regularly check for signs of stress, such as wilting leaves, yellowing, or pest activity, and address issues promptly to prevent further damage.

    Replacement Process:

Replacements occur during optimal planting seasons: March 1 to June 15 and September 1 to November 15, subject to our discretion, scheduling, and availability.

    Tree and Shrub Straightening:

Hardison Landscaping, LLC does not provide warranties or return visits for the straightening of trees or shrubs due to soil settlement, wind, inclement weather, or any other factors. Once installed, trees and shrubs may naturally shift as they settle into the soil. Until the roots become fully established, minor adjustments can typically be made by the homeowner. This can often be done gently using a foot or a shovel to reposition the plant, ensuring the root system is not damaged during the process.

    Warranty Limitations:

Once we complete your project, the responsibility for plant care transfers fully to you, as we no longer have control over their maintenance. We source all plants from reputable nurseries, ensuring they are delivered true to name and disease-free, and we plant them using industry-standard horticultural practices. However, because we cannot oversee care after installation, we cannot provide a more in-depth warranty beyond the 90 day period.

    Exclusions:

No warranty applies to annuals, perennials, bulbs, ground covers, or transplanted plants.

We’re not liable for plant loss due to overwatering, drought, pests, insect infestations, impervious soil conditions, abnormal weather, or other conditions beyond our control.

This warranty is void if plants are repaired, adjusted, moved, or modified by anyone other than Hardison Landscaping, LLC.

  • Hardscape Warranty

    Coverage

    Labor and Materials:

Hardscape installations (pavers, wall blocks) by Hardison Landscaping, LLC come with a two-year limited warranty on labor and workmanship, starting from the installation date.

    Specific Installations:

This includes paver and wall hardscapes, as well as pool patio paver installations, under normal wear conditions for their intended use (e.g., pedestrian walkways).

    Manufacturer Warranties:

Hardscape products (e.g., concrete pavers, wall blocks) may carry separate manufacturer warranties, which apply exclusively to the materials. Copies are available upon request.

    Installation and Workmanship:

We guarantee against settlement or separation of wall units for two years, provided the installation is used as designed (e.g., no vehicular traffic on pedestrian walkways).

    Pool Patios:

Damage from pool settling, improper pool installation, repairs, or pre-existing conditions (e.g., leaking water lines) is not covered.

    Exclusions:

Efflorescence: This is a naturally occurring process in all concrete products, often appearing as a white powdery film or light-colored areas on the surface of concrete, brick, or masonry products. It does not compromise the structural integrity or functionality of the product and is considered normal. Efflorescence cannot be prevented but will typically wash off over time with natural weathering. Alternatively, the homeowner can treat and clean it using an efflorescence cleaner as a maintenance item. It is common for efflorescence to reoccur after cleaning, and this condition is not covered under this warranty or any other Hardison Landscaping, LLC warranty.

Material Variations: Pavers, natural stones, bricks, and concrete may vary in color, pattern, texture, or veining. We do not warrant uniformity or match to samples.

Extreme Circumstances: Damage from fire, vehicular accidents, excessive flooding, freezing, or similar events is not covered.

This warranty is void if materials are repaired, adjusted, or modified by anyone other than Hardison Landscaping, LLC or its authorized representative.

  • Additional Materials Warranty

    Defects in Materials and Workmanship:

For one year from substantial completion, we’ll correct defects in materials and workmanship that don’t meet the North Carolina Landscape Contractors’ Licensing Board standards, upon written notice, within a reasonable timeframe.

This applies only to the original homeowner and is in lieu of any other warranties, express or implied.

    Sod and Seed Germination:

No warranty, written or implied, applies to sod or seed germination.

Owners must report sod issues immediately for treatment solutions (at additional cost) and comply with watering instructions.

    Limitation of Liability:

We’re not liable for damages to concrete driveways, sidewalks, underground irrigation systems, electric dog fences, secondary or private utilities not marked by 811, or septic systems.

We’ll make reasonable efforts to avoid damage and repair lawns (e.g. applying wheat straw and seed). Still, we cannot guarantee a return to pre-project conditions unless discussed and included in the contract’s Quote and Scope of Work before execution.
